Cyclones Surge Past Red Raiders in a Show of Dominance at James H. Hilton Coliseum

The Iowa State Cyclones, ranked 10th, showcased their dominance on the court with an impressive 82-74 victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Cyclones now boast a record of 10-1, while the Red Raiders fell to a 1-10 standing after this conference game. The final score reflected the Cyclones' control throughout the match, with a scoring split that saw them leading both halves at James H. Hilton Coliseum.

The home team's offense was firing on all cylinders as they put up an impressive field goal percentage of 47 percent from an aggressive 70 attempts. Their two-point shots were particularly effective, hitting their mark at a rate of 53 percent across 51 attempts. This inside scoring threat was complemented by their performance beyond the arc where they made six out of nineteen three-point attempts for a solid three-point percentage of 32 percent.

Free throw shooting was another area where Iowa State had room for improvement despite securing the win; they achieved a free throw percentage of sixty-seven from fifteen attempts but still managed to outscore Texas Tech in this aspect due to fewer opportunities given to their opponents who shot eighty-two percent from twenty-two free throws.


Texas Tech's performance should not be overlooked as they fought valiantly and managed to keep pace in assists with thirteen each team and exceeded Iowa State in blocks with two successful rejections. Their field goal accuracy stood at forty-five percent and they excelled in two-point shots making sixty-four percent out of twenty-five attempts.
