Cyclones Surge Past Mountaineers at Hilton Coliseum in Tactical Display
The Iowa State Cyclones, ranked 6th, edged out a victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers with a final score of 71-64. The Cyclones now boast an impressive record of 22-3, while the Mountaineers fall to a record of 14-11.
In front of a near-capacity crowd at James H. Hilton Coliseum, the Iowa State Cyclones showcased their defensive tenacity and offensive efficiency against the visiting West Virginia Mountaineers. The home team's aggressive defense led to an outstanding 14 steals and contributed significantly to their points off turnovers tallying up to 29. This defensive pressure was pivotal in disrupting the rhythm of the Mountaineers' offense which committed a total of 23 turnovers throughout the contest.
Offensively, Iowa State demonstrated balanced scoring with contributions across the board.
