This outcome leaves the Cyclones with their current season record, while the Mountaineers improve theirs. Cyclones' Efforts Not Enough

The Cyclones showcased a mixed performance on both ends of the court. They managed to block one shot, steal four times, and assist four times throughout the game. Their field goal percentage stood at 44 percent with a notable performance from inside the two-point line where they hit 60 percent of their attempts. However, struggles from beyond the arc were evident as they only converted one out of seventeen three-point attempts into points.

Curtis Jones emerged as a standout player for Iowa State, scoring 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Joshua Jefferson also made significant contributions with a double-double consisting of 10 points and ten rebounds alongside two steals. Keshon Gilbert added another layer to Iowa State's offensive efforts by putting up 13 points.

On the other side, West Virginia capitalized on their home advantage by making critical plays when it mattered most. They recorded three blocks and an impressive fourteen steals that contributed to their victory margin. The Mountaineers were particularly effective in transition where they scored nineteen fast break points compared to Iowa State's two.

Their ability to convert turnovers into points was another key factor in their win; they scored thirteen points off turnovers thanks to nine successful three-point shots out of twenty-seven attempts.
