In a display of sheer dominance at Pete Mathews Coliseum, the Jacksonville State Gamecocks outplayed the Sam Houston Bearkats with a final score of 79-68. The Gamecocks' season record now stands at an impressive 20-3, while the Bearkats fall to a less fortunate 15-8.

The home team's performance was nothing short of commanding as they led from start to finish, never allowing the lead to change hands throughout the contest. The first half saw them rack up an impressive 40 points against their opponents' 23, setting a tone for what was to come. They continued their strong play into the second half, adding another 39 points to seal their victory.

The Gamecocks excelled in various aspects of the game. Their shooting accuracy was on point with a field goal percentage of 48 and an even more impressive three-point shooting rate at 39 percent. From two-point range, they were successful on over half their attempts, hitting at a rate of 51 percent. This offensive efficiency was complemented by staunch defense that included six blocks and seven steals.

Free throws often make or break games and this encounter was no different; Jacksonville State capitalized on these opportunities by converting them at an outstanding rate of 76 percent. They also dominated under both baskets with total rebounds numbering at an overwhelming total of 43 compared to just 24 from Sam Houston.

The Bearkats did put up some resistance despite being outmatched overall. They managed to sink nearly half their field goals and were slightly better from beyond the arc with a three-point percentage rounding up to about 47 percent. Fast break points were also in favor of Sam Houston who scored an aggressive total of nineteen in this category.

However, it wasn't enough as Jacksonville State's balanced attack proved too much for them; every player contributed significantly across all facets including assists where they tallied thirteen in comparison with fourteen by Sam Houston.

Looking ahead after this convincing win, fans can mark their calendars for when Jacksonville State takes on Western Kentucky Hilltoppers next Saturday afternoon at Pete Mathews Coliseum in Jacksonville, Alabama. Scheduled for February tenth at four o'clock PM local time (Central Time), supporters can catch all the action live on ESPN+.
