Can the Gamecocks Bounce Back at Pete Mathews Coliseum After Narrow Defeat at Thomas Assembly Center?

The Jacksonville State Gamecocks faced a challenging contest against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, ending in a close 58-63 defeat. The Gamecocks now stand with an additional loss to their record, while the Bulldogs notch another victory.

Jacksonville State Gamecocks VS Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

At the Thomas Assembly Center, the Jacksonville State Gamecocks put up a resilient fight but ultimately fell short against their hosts. The team's effort was evident in their 37 total rebounds and nine steals during the game. Despite trailing at halftime with 28 points to Louisiana Tech's 35, they managed to add another 30 points in the second half but couldn't overcome the deficit.

The Gamecocks' shooting accuracy from within the arc was notable, with a two-point field goal percentage of 44 percent based on 15 successful shots out of 34 attempts. From beyond the arc, they made six out of nineteen three-point attempts resulting in a three-point shooting percentage of 32 percent. Their free-throw performance was impressive as well; they capitalized on these opportunities by making ten out of twelve free throws which translates to an excellent free throw percentage of approximately 83 percent.

Jacksonville State's defense managed to block two shots and limited their personal fouls to seventeen without any player being fouled out or ejected from play. However, turnovers were an area that hurt them; they committed nineteen turnovers throughout this intense conference game.

On offense, points in paint contributed significantly with twenty-four points scored inside while fifteen second-chance points showed their determination on following up shots. They also converted nine points off turnovers into scoring opportunities despite having only seven assists for all field goals made.

In contrast, The Bulldogs had similar field goal percentages but excelled with fast break points totaling ten and higher assists count at eleven which facilitated better ball movement leading to scores. Their defensive efforts resulted in six blocks and seven steals contributing to twelve total turnovers for them.

Looking ahead for Jacksonville State fans, there is an opportunity for redemption as The Jacksonville State Gamecocks are scheduled to host Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders at Pete Mathews Coliseum located in Jacksonville on February 21st at 6:00 PM local time (Central Time). Fans can catch this upcoming game live on ESPN+ through internet streaming services.
