Gamecocks Outmaneuvered at Home by UTEP Miners in Conference Clash
In a closely contested conference game, the Jacksonville State Gamecocks fell short against the UTEP Miners with a final score of 72-65. Jacksonville State's rebounding was notably stronger than that of their opponents; they grabbed thirty rebounds including eight offensive boards compared to UTEP's twenty-two total rebounds. Yet turnovers proved costly for Jacksonville State as they gave up possession twenty-four times leading to sixteen points for UTEP off those turnovers.
UTEP capitalized on Jacksonville State's mistakes and displayed sharp shooting throughout the game. They made fifty-three percent of their field goals and were particularly effective inside the paint scoring forty-two points. Their free throw performance was impressive as well hitting eighty-two percent from the line which contributed significantly to maintaining their lead over Jacksonville State.
