The Jayhawks' performance was a testament to their offensive efficiency and defensive tenacity. They shot an impressive 47 percent from the field and were flawless from the free-throw line, making all 12 attempts. Their three-point shooting was also noteworthy as they hit nine out of 20 attempts, translating to a solid 45 percent success rate. The team's scoring was bolstered by points off turnovers; they capitalized on Yale's mistakes for a total of 23 points.

Defensively, Kansas matched Yale with six blocks and surpassed them with ten steals. This defensive pressure contributed significantly to their fast-break points tallying up to 19 compared to Yale's nine. The Jayhawks also edged out in assists with eighteen successful passes leading to scores against thirteen by the Bulldogs.

Rebounding was another area where Kansas showed superiority by grabbing a total of 32 rebounds - twenty-one defensively and eleven on offense which led them to score eleven second-chance points. In contrast, Yale managed thirty rebounds but only converted these into six second-chance points.

Despite committing one more personal foul than Yale (12 against 10), Kansas maintained composure throughout the game which is reflected in fewer turnovers (12) compared to sixteen by Yale and better assist-to-turnover ratio (1.64).
