Jayhawks Soar Past Bulldogs in a Close Encounter at Delta Center

The Jayhawks started strong, putting up 48 points in the first half and maintaining their lead with an additional 45 points in the second. Their offensive efforts were led by an impressive field goal percentage of 60 percent and a dominant performance in the paint where they scored 54 points. Kansas also showcased their defensive skills, blocking seven shots and making five steals over the course of the game.

Kansas' two-point shooting was particularly effective; they made an outstanding 72 percent of their attempts from inside the arc. The team's free throw shooting was also solid at 63 percent, contributing significantly to their point total. Despite turning over the ball eighteen times, Kansas managed to keep control of the game thanks to their higher assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.47 compared to Samford's ratio.

On defense, Kansas outrebounded Samford with a total rebound count of 44 against Samford's 35 rebounds. This included pulling down seven offensive boards which led to ten second-chance points for Kansas.

Samford Bulldogs put up a valiant effort as well but fell short despite outscoring Kansas in fast break points (13) and three-pointers made (16). They shot at a respectable rate from beyond the arc with a three-point percentage rounded off to around forty-three percent but struggled inside where they only converted thirty-nine percent of two-point attempts.

The Bulldogs' defense managed only one block throughout the game while committing twenty-one personal fouls – equaling that committed by Kansas – which hindered them from gaining momentum when it mattered most.
