The Kansas State Wildcats started off trailing in the first half, scoring only 29 points compared to the Longhorns' 39. However, they staged an incredible comeback in the second half by adding an astounding 49 points to their tally. This surge was fueled by their efficient shooting from inside the arc, where they achieved a solid fifty percent conversion rate on two-point attempts.

The Wildcats also excelled at free throws, making twenty-three out of thirty-one attempts which translated into seventy-four percent accuracy. Their ability to draw fouls and capitalize from the charity stripe proved crucial in their narrow victory over Texas.

Defensively, Kansas State showed tenacity by grabbing thirty-nine rebounds with twenty-eight being defensive boards which helped limit second-chance opportunities for Texas. They also managed three blocks and one steal during this intense matchup.

Offensively, Kansas State's performance was bolstered by scoring thirty-eight points in paint and securing eleven second-chance points that kept them competitive throughout each quarter. Despite committing nineteen personal fouls themselves, they were able to maintain composure and keep turnovers low with only ten total turnovers for the game.

On Texas's side, despite falling short on overall field goal percentage at forty-two percent compared to Kansas State's forty-seven percent shooting efficiency; they did outpace them slightly on two-point percentage with fifty-three percent success rate. The Longhorns also had six steals which contributed to sixteen points off turnovers but it wasn't enough against a determined Wildcat side that held onto their lead until time expired.

Looking ahead for fans of Kansas State basketball: The next challenge awaits as they are set as away team against Iowa State Cyclones at T-Mobile Center located in Kansas City MO (zip code:64106).
