The game at Rupp Arena was a display of offensive efficiency for the Kentucky Wildcats. They shot an exceptional 60 percent from the field and an impressive 69 percent on two-point attempts. The team's scoring was balanced with a strong first half performance of 45 points followed by another solid half adding up to 41 points. Their prowess in scoring was complemented by their ability to share the ball, as evidenced by their total of 18 assists.

Defensively, both teams were evenly matched with seven steals each. However, it was in rebounding where Kentucky truly excelled; they outrebounded Louisville by a significant margin with a total of 33 rebounds compared to Louisville's 20. This advantage on the boards allowed Kentucky to score an additional 20 second-chance points.

Louisville Cardinals put up a valiant effort despite falling short in several statistical categories. They managed to convert nearly three-quarters of their free throws and scored more than half of their two-point shots successfully. Points in the paint were also a strong suit for Louisville as they tallied up to 34 points.

Kentucky's defensive efforts limited Louisville's three-point shooting success rate to just about sixteen percent, which played into Kentucky’s hands as they built and maintained their lead throughout the game without any lead changes or ties occurring during playtime.
