The Thomas Assembly Center was alive with energy as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs took control early on, ending the first half with a comfortable lead. The team's offensive efforts were led by their remarkable field goal percentage of 47, which included making 24 out of 51 attempts. Defensively, the Bulldogs were just as dominant. They out-rebounded their opponents with a total rebound count of 39 compared to Southern Utah's 35. The defensive effort included securing an impressive number of defensive rebounds at 28. This tenacity on defense transitioned into offense effectively, allowing them to score 13 points off turnovers.

The Bulldog's free throw performance also contributed to their win; they made good on two-thirds of their attempts from the line. Additionally, fast break opportunities were capitalized upon by scoring ten fast break points throughout the game.

On top of that, Louisiana Tech showed superiority in ball handling and teamwork with an assist-to-turnover ratio exceeding one (1.1), alongside providing eleven assists during playtime which facilitated scoring opportunities for multiple players.
