Bulldogs Dominate Miners at Thomas Assembly Center in Fierce Conference Game
In a display of solid basketball, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs improved their season record to an impressive 1-0 after defeating the Miners with a final score of 68-54. The game, which took place at the Thomas Assembly Center, saw both teams locked in a competitive struggle, but it was the Bulldogs who emerged victorious.
The Bulldogs showcased their defensive capabilities by amassing a total of nine blocks and five steals throughout the game. Their offensive efforts were equally commendable as they managed to secure ten assists. The team's shooting accuracy was on point with a field goal percentage of 49 and an even more impressive three-point shooting percentage of 43. They also capitalized on free throws, making 20 out of 33 attempts which translated to a free throw percentage rounding up to 61 percent.
Louisiana Tech's rebounding was another area where they excelled; they outrebounded their opponents with a total rebound count of 45 compared to the Miners' 32. This included grabbing eight offensive rebounds which contributed significantly to second-chance points totaling eight for the game.
On offense, Louisiana Tech maintained consistency across both halves scoring an equal number of points (34) in each period. Their two-point field goal percentage stood at an efficient rate rounding up to 52 percent as they made good use of their attempts from inside.
The Miners put up resistance but struggled against Louisiana Tech's defense. They managed only three blocks and had fewer steals at eleven for the entire game. Despite committing fewer turnovers than Louisiana Tech (12 compared to nineteen), UTEP could not capitalize on these opportunities as effectively as needed; they scored fourteen points off turnovers while allowing seven points from their own errors.
