Louisville Cardinals Overwhelmed by Wake Forest's Sharp Shooting at Lawrence Joel Coliseum

The Louisville Cardinals started strong, putting up 33 points in the first half but were outpaced by Wake Forest's 48 points. In the second half, despite adding another 32 points to their tally, they couldn't close the gap as Wake Forest continued their offensive onslaught with an additional 42 points. The Cardinals showcased a solid two-point shooting performance at 52 percent but struggled beyond the arc with only an 18 percent success rate from three-point range.


Louisville's offense was led by contributions across the board, totaling 12 assists and capitalizing on fast-break opportunities to score nine fast break points. They also managed to convert turnovers into nine additional points and fought for six second-chance points. However, it was inside where they found most of their success, scoring a substantial 36 points in paint.


Defensively, Louisville managed four steals and blocked two shots but ultimately could not contain Wake Forest's sharpshooters who hit an impressive 51 percent from three-point territory. Despite committing fewer personal fouls than their opponents (13 compared to Wake Forest's count of eleven), Louisville struggled on rebounds with only twenty-six total rebounds—twenty-four personal and two team rebounds—against Wake Forest’s thirty-six.


Wake Forest capitalized on both ends of the court; they were more efficient in field goal percentage at fifty percent and slightly better from free throw line making eighty-three percent of their attempts. Their ball movement was superior as well; evidenced by twenty assists which contributed significantly to maintaining control over game flow.


As for individual performances for Louisville Cardinals cannot be overlooked despite loss; players who took charge offensively made twenty-five out of forty-eight two-point attempts while also sinking nine out of eleven free throws attempted during game time.
