Louisville Cardinals Outpaced at Petersen Events Center: Can They Rebound?

The Cardinals showcased commendable accuracy from two-point range, converting 58 percent of their attempts. Their free throw performance was particularly impressive, as they made 86 percent of their shots from the line. Despite this efficiency, they struggled beyond the arc, making just one out of twelve three-point attempts for an eight percent conversion rate.


Louisville's defensive efforts resulted in four blocks and two steals but were overshadowed by Pittsburgh's nine steals which contributed to a higher number of points off turnovers. The rebounding battle was also won by Pittsburgh who collected 37 rebounds compared to Louisville's 28.


Offensively, Louisville managed to put up 30 points in the paint and had five fast break points. However, turnovers were a significant issue for them as they gave up possession twelve times which translated into only two points off turnovers for themselves. Their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at 0.75 indicating more turnovers than assists throughout the game.


On individual performances for Louisville, no specific player statistics are provided; however collectively they managed twenty field goals on forty-five attempts resulting in a field goal percentage of forty-four percent overall.


Conversely, Pittsburgh displayed strong offensive execution with twenty-two assists and better ball control leading to only three total turnovers during playtime. They capitalized on those opportunities scoring nineteen points off turnovers and eighteen second-chance points thanks to ten offensive rebounds.


Pittsburgh also demonstrated superior long-range shooting prowess hitting fifteen out of thirty-one three-pointers giving them a forty-eight percent success rate from distance which significantly contributed to their final lead over Louisville.
