Cardinals' Offensive Onslaught

The Cardinals' offense was a force to be reckoned with, shooting an impressive 64 percent from the field and 58 percent from beyond the arc. Their scoring was led by Terrence Edwards and Reyne Smith, who each tallied 21 points. Edwards also contributed five assists and four rebounds, while Smith's sharpshooting from three-point range (56 percent) stretched the Wolfpack's defense throughout the game. Chucky Hepburn added another layer to Louisville's attack with 15 points and six assists, showcasing his ability to both score and distribute effectively.

Louisville's strategy to dominate inside paid off as well; they scored 46 points in the paint while maintaining a high two-point field goal percentage of 67 percent. This inside presence was complemented by fast break points totaling 21, indicating their success in converting turnovers into quick scoring opportunities.

Wolfpack Struggles Against Cardinals Defense

On defense, Louisville was just as effective. They forced North Carolina State into committing 17 turnovers which translated into 19 points for the Cardinals. Additionally, Louisville recorded nine steals and four blocks, disrupting many of North Carolina State’s offensive sets.

The Wolfpack struggled to find their rhythm offensively against Louisville’s aggressive defense. Shooting only 36 percent from field goal range and managing just a third of their three-point attempts highlighted their challenges throughout the game. Despite contributions from their bench players who scored a combined total of 41 points for North Carolina State, it wasn't enough to counteract Louisville’s commanding lead.
