The Louisville Cardinals demonstrated a strong team effort with several standout performances. Chucky Hepburn led his team in scoring with 15 points, complemented by six assists and two steals, showcasing his all-around game. James Scott also made significant contributions with 13 points and six rebounds; his efficiency on field goals stood out as he shot an impressive 86 percent from the field. Terrence Edwards added another layer of support with 13 points and four rebounds, proving vital in critical moments of the game.


Louisville's defensive play was notable as well, accumulating nine steals throughout the game which contributed to their overall performance. Their ability to convert turnovers into points was crucial; they scored 26 points off turnovers compared to Virginia Tech's nine.
