Key Highlights from Louisville

The game was a testament to Louisville's strategic execution and individual brilliance. Terrence Edwards led the charge for the Cardinals with an impressive 35 points, shooting 58 percent from the field and 64 percent from beyond the arc. His performance was complemented by J'Vonne Hadley and Chucky Hepburn, who contributed significantly to Louisville's offense. Hadley matched Hepburn's 16 points; however, it was his rebounding that stood out as he grabbed eight boards throughout the game.

Hepburn not only added to Louisville’s point tally but also showcased his playmaking abilities with five assists and demonstrated defensive prowess with one steal. His all-around game was pivotal in maintaining Louisville’s momentum at crucial junctures.

Defensively, Khani Rooths made his presence felt by blocking two shots and securing two steals alongside contributing four points. James Scott also had a notable defensive performance with three blocks while adding six points to help extend their lead.

California Golden Bears' Effort

Despite falling short, California showed resilience especially in their second-half performance where they outscored their first-half point total significantly but couldn't overcome Louisville's lead. Their effort offensively saw them drawing fouls effectively which translated into making 17 free throws at a rate of 77 percent accuracy.

The team struggled from both inside and outside of paint scoring only 20 points within it despite numerous attempts which reflected on their overall field goal percentage standing at just 30 percent for this encounter.
