Maryland Terrapins VS Penn State Nittany Lions

In what was a closely contested battle at the Xfinity Center, the Maryland Terrapins showed resilience and determination to overcome their opponents, the Penn State Nittany Lions. The game saw numerous lead changes totaling 17 throughout regulation time and ended with both teams tied on 12 occasions. It was only in overtime that the Terrapins managed to pull away decisively.

The home team's performance was marked by their dominance on the boards as they outrebounded Penn State by a significant margin of 53 to 31. This rebounding advantage allowed them to score 18 second-chance points compared to just eight by their opponents. The offensive rebounds were particularly telling, with Maryland grabbing 19 against Penn State's eight.

Maryland's shooting from inside the arc was more effective than from distance; they made 42 percent of their two-point attempts but struggled from three-point range, converting only 20 percent of those shots. However, it was at the free-throw line where they truly excelled – sinking an impressive 30 out of their total attempts for a free throw percentage of approximately 77 percent.

Defensively, Maryland also put up solid numbers with seven steals and three blocks during the game. Their defensive efforts limited Penn State’s field goal percentage to just under 39 percent overall and kept them at bay during critical moments in overtime.

On offense for Penn State, despite shooting over ninety percent from the free-throw line and making half of their two-point shots (43 percent), it wasn't enough to secure victory. They did manage an assist-turnover ratio above one but committed more personal fouls than Maryland which contributed significantly to their loss as three players were fouled out during play.

The upcoming schedule sees Maryland set to host Alcorn State Braves at Xfinity Center on December 13th. Fans can catch this matchup live on BTN channel six hundred ten as both teams prepare for another exciting college basketball encounter.
