Terrapins Overcome Halftime Deficit to Outlast Wolverines at Xfinity Center

The game at Xfinity Center saw a tale of two halves unfold. The Terrapins, trailing by 12 points after the first half, staged an impressive comeback to outscore their opponents by 19 points in the second half. The home team's resilience was on full display as they turned around a 21-point first-half performance into a dominant 43-point second-half showing.

Maryland's defense played a pivotal role, racking up five blocks and six steals throughout the game. Their defensive pressure caused significant disruption for Michigan, contributing to eleven turnovers for the visiting side. On offense, Maryland demonstrated efficiency from both inside and beyond the arc with field goal percentages of 41 percent and three-point shooting at 33 percent respectively.

A standout factor for Maryland was their ability to draw fouls and capitalize from the free-throw line where they shot an impressive 74 percent making 17 free throws compared to Michigan's ten made at a lower rate of 67 percent. This sharpshooting contributed significantly to their scoring tally.

The Terrapins also dominated on rebounds with thirty-five total rebounds against Michigan’s thirty-two; this included seven offensive boards which provided additional scoring opportunities despite only converting them into two second-chance points.

Maryland’s assist-to-turnover ratio stood at a positive figure of 1.1 showcasing better ball distribution and decision-making than Michigan who had an assists turnover ratio below one (0.91). This statistic underlines Maryland's more effective ball-handling during high-pressure moments.

Looking ahead, fans can mark their calendars for another exciting matchup as Maryland will face off against Illinois Fighting Illini on January 14th at State Farm Center in Champaign, IL. The game is scheduled for a tip-off time of noon Central Time (1:00 PM Eastern Time) and will be broadcast nationally on BTN channel number 610 for those eager to follow along from afar.
