The Maryland Terrapins showcased a strong performance on their home court against the visiting Iowa Hawkeyes. The first half ended with the Terrapins trailing by six points, but they turned things around in the second half, scoring 47 points to secure a comfortable win. The final score reflected their dominance as they finished with 78 points against Iowa's 66.

Maryland's offensive efficiency was evident throughout the game as they shot an impressive 48 percent from the field and an outstanding 83 percent from the free-throw line. Their two-point shooting was particularly effective, with a success rate of 60 percent contributing significantly to their total score. In contrast, Iowa struggled from beyond the arc, managing only a 27 percent three-point shooting percentage.

Defensively, Maryland also stood out by collecting more rebounds than Iowa; pulling down a total of 37 rebounds compared to Iowa's 29. This included nine offensive boards which led to crucial second-chance opportunities resulting in 16 second-chance points for Maryland.

The Terrapins' defense was relentless as well; they tallied seven steals and blocked two shots while committing fewer personal fouls than their opponents (11 compared to Iowa's 23). This disciplined approach allowed them to maintain pressure without giving away too many free-throw opportunities.

Iowa did manage some resistance through fast break plays and capitalizing on turnovers; both teams scored eight fast break points each and Iowa scored more points off turnovers (18) than Maryland (12). However, this wasn't enough to overcome Maryland’s solid play on both ends of the court.

Looking ahead for fans of Maryland basketball: The next challenge for them will be hosting Illinois Fighting Illini at Xfinity Center on February 17th at Xfinity Center. Fans can catch this matchup live on FOX at precisely five-thirty PM Eastern Time as part of national TV coverage.
