First Half


The game began with both teams displaying competitive energy. The Terps managed to keep pace with the Trojans, ending the first half just one point behind at 42-41. David Coit was instrumental for Maryland during this period, contributing significantly with his scoring prowess and maintaining an impressive field goal percentage of 50 percent from his previous game.


Second Half


As the second half unfolded, it became evident that USC's depth would be pivotal. The Trojans' bench contributed an impressive 46 points overall compared to Maryland's eight. The Terps struggled defensively against USC’s fast breaks and points in the paint, which totaled an overwhelming 44 points for SC.

Despite efforts from players like Isaiah Watts and Collin Metcalf who tried to bolster their team's defense with blocks and rebounds respectively, it was not enough to counteract SC’s offensive onslaught led by their efficient shooting performance of over 52 percent from field goals.


Post-game Analysis


In terms of team statistics, Maryland recorded a total of four steals and three blocks but were outmatched by SC’s six steals and five blocks. The Terps also faced challenges in turnovers which resulted in only four points off turnovers compared to SC’s fifteen.
