Can the Memphis Tigers Maintain Their Momentum After Defeating the Governors?

The Memphis Tigers, ranked 19th, secured another victory with an 81-70 score over the unranked Governors from Austin Peay. The Tigers now boast a record of 19-0, while the Governors fall to a record of 0-1. The game was held at FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee before an audience of 12,018 fans.

The home game for the Tigers saw them leading by three points at halftime and extending their lead in the second half. The team's offensive efforts were highlighted by their impressive shooting from within the paint, contributing to a total of 42 points in that area. They also excelled at free throws with an outstanding accuracy rate of 87 percent.

Defensively, the Tigers demonstrated solid performance with six blocks and six steals throughout the game. Their defensive rebounding was particularly strong as they collected a total of 29 defensive rebounds compared to only twenty by their opponents.

On offense, assists played a crucial role for both teams; however, it was notable that despite having fewer assists than their opponents (13 against 18), it did not hinder the Tigers' ability to score effectively and maintain control over the game flow.

The Governors put up a resilient fight despite being on enemy territory. They managed to block seven shots and steal twelve times from their hosts but struggled with field goal percentage at only 36 percent compared to Memphis's slightly better rate of 41 percent. Austin Peay also had difficulty converting free throws successfully – making just half out of ten attempts – which could have narrowed down their deficit significantly.

One aspect where Austin Peay shone was in capitalizing on second-chance opportunities; they scored seventeen second-chance points due largely to grabbing seventeen offensive rebounds during playtime.

Looking ahead for fans eager to follow more action-packed games featuring their beloved team: The next challenge for Memphis will be against Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Donald W. Reynolds Center located in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January fourth at seven o'clock PM Central Time Zone. This away game will be available for viewing on ESPN+ network online platform.
