Can the Memphis Tigers Claw Back After Narrow Loss to South Florida Bulls?

In a closely contested match at FedExForum, the Memphis Tigers now stand at 10-2 after a narrow defeat by the South Florida Bulls with a final score of 74-73. The Bulls improved their record to an unranked status.

The game was marked by intense competition and several lead changes, with both teams showcasing their strengths on the court. The Tigers demonstrated exceptional prowess in fast break points, scoring 21 compared to the Bulls' mere two. Additionally, they dominated in points in the paint with an impressive tally of 42, while their opponents managed only 18.

Despite these advantages, turnovers proved costly for the home team as they gave up possession on 13 occasions which led to 19 points off turnovers for the Bulls. Conversely, South Florida capitalized on their opportunities from such errors and maintained a steady performance throughout both halves.

The Tigers were also formidable under their own basket with five blocks and eight steals matching that of the Bulls' defensive efforts. However, shooting accuracy from beyond the arc was not in favor of Memphis; they achieved just a 21 percent success rate from three-point attempts compared to South Florida's more effective rate of 33 percent.

Memphis did excel at free throw accuracy securing an impressive rate of approximately 81 percent but it wasn't enough to secure victory against South Florida's overall field goal percentage standing at approximately 39 percent. Both teams committed an equal number of personal fouls (16), indicating a hard-fought battle on defense without either side gaining significant advantage through penalties.

As fans look ahead, they can mark their calendars for when The Memphis Tigers will face off against Tulane Green Wave at Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans. This encounter is scheduled for January 21st at noon Central Time and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 channel number two hundred nine. Fans are encouraged to tune in as The Tigers aim to bounce back from this setback and continue their pursuit towards another win this season.
