In front of an energetic crowd at the Jack Breslin Students Events Center, the Michigan State Spartans demonstrated solid teamwork and execution. The home team capitalized on their offensive rebounds, grabbing 11 compared to Maryland's 10, which contributed significantly to their second-chance points tally of 11. Defensively, they were just as impressive with a total of 36 rebounds while holding Maryland to only 30.

The Spartans' shooting accuracy was notable with a field goal percentage of 44 percent from an overall attempt of 54 shots. They also outperformed Maryland in two-point attempts by making half of their shots from within the arc. From beyond the three-point line, they shot at a rate of nearly one-third success rate (29 percent), sinking four out of fourteen attempts.

Free throws were another area where Michigan State showed proficiency; they made it to the line more often than Maryland and converted those opportunities into points with an accuracy rate close to seventy percent (69 percent). This efficiency helped them maintain their lead throughout much of the game.

Michigan State's defense was tenacious as well; they recorded seven steals and matched Maryland's five blocks. Their ability not only to disrupt but also convert turnovers into points was evident as they scored fifteen points off turnovers compared to eleven by Maryland.

On top of that, ball distribution for Michigan State was commendable with fourteen assists across various players contributing towards this statistic – showcasing effective ball movement and teamwork on offense.
