Points in paint were another area where they excelled scoring twenty-four points; however, it wasn't enough as Northwestern dominated this aspect with thirty-six points inside.
Northwestern capitalized on every opportunity given by Michigan's mistakes scoring twenty-two points off turnovers compared to just three for Michigan. Their ball movement was superior as well evidenced by nineteen assists which helped them maintain control throughout most of the game.
