The Wolverines entered the game with determination but struggled to find their rhythm against a formidable Rutgers defense. Despite their efforts, they were only able to convert 35 percent of their two-point attempts and 26 percent from beyond the arc. Their field goal percentage stood at a modest 32 percent compared to Rutgers' impressive 52 percent shooting efficiency. From the free-throw line, Michigan managed to make half of their shots.

On defense, the Wolverines secured one block and four steals but could not contain Rutgers' offense which scored 48 points in the paint and capitalized on fast breaks for an additional 18 points. Rebounding was one area where Michigan held its own, grabbing a total of 39 rebounds equally split between offensive and defensive efforts.

The assist-to-turnover ratio for Michigan stood at just under one (0.79), indicating more lost possessions than successful passes leading to scores.

Rutgers demonstrated strong ball control throughout the match with only five turnovers and an impressive assist-to-turnover ratio of over three (3.4). They also outperformed in steals with ten takeaways contributing significantly to their victory margin.
