Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Set to Battle New Mexico State Aggies at Pan American Center
As the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders gear up for their next challenge against the New Mexico State Aggies at the Pan American Center, fans are eager to see if they can bounce back from a string of mixed performances. The upcoming game on January 21st promises to be a crucial test for the Blue Raiders, who have shown both flashes of brilliance and areas in need of improvement in recent outings.
In their last game on December 23rd against Southern Utah Thunderbirds, the Blue Raiders scored an impressive 63 points with a field goal percentage of 51 and were particularly dominant in the paint with 46 points. However, despite out-rebounding their opponents with a total of 41 rebounds and shooting an exceptional two-point percentage of 63, they fell short by six points. A concerning aspect was their turnover count which stood at 16; this is an area that will require tightening up before facing off against NMSU.
Earlier on December 20th, Middle Tennessee faced Saint Mary's Gaels where they struggled offensively, scoring only 34 points with a field goal percentage just shy of 28. Their three-point shooting was also lackluster at around 27 percent. Defensively though, they managed seven blocks but ultimately couldn't contain Saint Mary's potent offense which put up a strong fight in the paint totaling to an impressive scoreline.
The most promising performance came earlier in December when MTU hosted Belmont Bruins at Murphy Athletic Center. The home advantage seemed to work as they posted a respectable scoreline despite losing by ten points. They showed resilience by improving their two-point field goal percentage to around 47 and three-point shooting to over 30 percent while also maintaining defensive solidity with five blocks.
Looking ahead towards NMSU Aggies' home court advantage could pose challenges for MTU; however, if they can channel their defensive prowess from previous games and maintain offensive consistency throughout both halves while managing turnovers better than before – there’s potential for victory.
The scheduled clash between these two teams is set for January 21st at Pan American Center in Las Cruces starting at nine PM Eastern Time (7 PM local time). Fans won't want to miss this matchup as it will be broadcasted live on ESPN+.
