The home team's effort was epitomized by their improved second-half performance, tallying 32 points compared to their initial 27.

The Golden Gophers' offense was bolstered by accurate shooting from beyond the arc, converting nine out of twenty-three three-point attempts which translates to an impressive 39 percent success rate. Defensively, both teams were evenly matched with two blocks each and nearly identical rebounds; however, it was Minnesota's slight edge in total rebounds at thirty-one that gave them additional opportunities to score. They capitalized on these chances by scoring eight second-chance points.

The Spartans were not without their merits; they demonstrated efficient ball handling with an assist-to-turnover ratio of two and managed to convert ten fast break points. Their field goal percentage stood at forty-five percent after making twenty-one out of forty-seven attempts but struggled from the charity stripe with only seven successful free throws from seventeen attempts (41 percent).
