The game, held at Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo, saw the Mississippi State Bulldogs establish their dominance early on. By halftime, they had matched their opponents with 36 points each but did not relent in their offensive efforts. The home team's relentless pressure continued into the second half where they again tallied another 36 points while restricting North Texas to just 22.

The Bulldogs' defense was particularly noteworthy; they amassed five blocks and eight steals throughout the game. This defensive solidity limited North Texas's scoring opportunities and was instrumental in keeping them to a field goal percentage of just under forty percent (38). On offense, Mississippi State showcased efficient ball movement which resulted in fifteen assists and contributed to their overall field goal percentage of approximately forty-two percent (42).

Mississippi State also excelled in rebounding with thirty-seven total rebounds compared to thirty-two by North Texas. The offensive boards were especially crucial for the Bulldogs as they grabbed sixteen rebounds on that end which led to seventeen second-chance points.

North Texas struggled with turnovers during this matchup, giving up possession sixteen times which translated into twenty-two points off turnovers for Mississippi State. In contrast, Mississippi State maintained composure with only three turnovers throughout the entire game.

From beyond the arc, both teams had challenges; however, it was Mississippi State who managed slightly better from three-point range hitting nearly twenty-four percent (24) compared to just over twenty percent (21) by North Texas.

Free throw accuracy also played a role; while North Texas excelled at eighty-seven percent from the line, it wasn't enough against a well-rounded performance by Mississippi State who shot sixty-eight percent on free throws themselves.

Looking ahead after this solid performance at home court advantage will be tested as they prepare for an away game against Rutgers Scarlet Knights scheduled for December 23rd at Prudential Center located in Newark NJ starting at 5:00 PM local time.
