Mississippi State Bulldogs Narrowly Edged Out by Ole Miss Rebels in a High-Scoring Affair

The Mississippi State Bulldogs, with a rank of 0, faced off against the Ole Miss Rebels in an intense conference game that ended with the Bulldogs scoring 82 and the Rebels slightly ahead at 86. The match saw both teams locked at 39 each during the first half, but the second half tipped in favor of the home team as they outscored their guests with an additional 47 points to Mississippi State's 43.

The Bulldogs showcased their offensive skills by sinking 54 percent of their field goals and hitting eight three-pointers at a solid rate of 44 percent. Their efforts inside were particularly effective, contributing to an impressive total of 44 points in the paint.


Despite not registering any blocks throughout the contest, Mississippi State managed to pull down a total of 38 rebounds—21 defensive and an additional dozen on offense. They also demonstrated teamwork with a commendable tally of 19 assists. However, ball handling proved challenging for them as they turned over possession on fifteen occasions.


On defense, Mississippi State was able to force turnovers which led to four points off those opportunities. Their steal count stood at four for this encounter against Ole Miss who managed twelve steals themselves—a clear indicator where some defensive gaps lay for Mississippi State.


In terms of shooting accuracy from close range, Mississippi made twenty-two out of thirty-eight two-point attempts which translates into an efficient fifty-eight percent conversion rate. From beyond the arc and from free-throw line perspectives though, they shot forty-four percent and seventy percent respectively.


While there were no foul outs or ejections recorded for either side during this matchup; personal fouls did come into play significantly with fifteen called against Mississippi State compared to eighteen for Ole Miss.
