The Mississippi State Bulldogs faced a challenging contest against the 24th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, culminating in a 67-99 defeat. The Bulldogs now stand with an overall season record of 0-1, while the Crimson Tide advances to 1-0. The game unfolded at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, where the home team took advantage of their court to secure a decisive victory.

From the onset, the Mississippi State Bulldogs struggled to find their rhythm against a formidable Alabama defense. Despite putting up 24 points in the first half and improving to 43 in the second, it was not enough to match Alabama's consistent scoring drive which tallied at 47 and then surged to an additional 52 points after halftime. The Bulldogs' effort was hampered by their field goal percentage which stood at only forty percent compared to Alabama's forty-five percent.

The Mississippi State team managed thirty-seven rebounds throughout the game but were outdone by Alabama's forty-eight. In terms of ball handling, turnovers proved costly for Mississippi State with eighteen lost possessions; this contrasted sharply with Alabama's eleven turnovers. Moreover, while both teams had only one team turnover each, points off turnovers were significantly higher for Alabama at twenty-seven compared to seven for Mississippi State.

Offensively, Mississippi State saw some bright spots with thirty-four points scored in the paint and eight second-chance points. However, they struggled beyond the arc with a mere twenty-five percent success rate from three-point attempts (4 made out of sixteen). Free throw accuracy also left room for improvement as they made nineteen out of thirty-two attempts resulting in fifty-nine percent completion.

Defensively speaking, without any blocks recorded and facing five blocked shots from opponents indicated areas needing attention for future games. Steals were one area where Mississippi State showed tenacity on defense gathering seven throughout playtime.

Looking ahead after this tough road loss, fans can mark their calendars as The Mississippi State Bulldogs will return home to face off against Georgia Bulldogs on February 7th at Humphrey Coliseum located in Starkville MS; tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 PM Eastern Time. This matchup will be broadcast nationally on SEC Network channel six hundred eleven ensuring fans won't miss any action from this upcoming conference game.
