New Mexico Lobos Set to Battle Texas-Arlington Mavericks at The Pit

As the New Mexico Lobos prepare to host the Texas-Arlington Mavericks at The Pit, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be an electrifying matchup. With a scheduled tip-off on November 17th, the Lobos are looking to capitalize on their home-court advantage in Albuquerque and deliver a performance that echoes their past successes.

Gonzaga Bulldogs VS New Mexico Lobos

The recent form of the New Mexico Lobos has been a mixed bag, with their last outing against Saint Mary's Gaels on November 10th ending in a 58-72 defeat. Despite this setback, there were positive takeaways from that game; notably, the team managed to secure eight steals and ten assists. However, they struggled with shooting accuracy from both the field (37 percent) and free-throw line (53 percent), which ultimately contributed to their downfall.

In contrast, when looking back at UNM's game against Texas Southern Tigers on November 7th at The Pit itself, fans witnessed an explosive display of offensive prowess as they cruised to a commanding 92-55 victory. Their shooting was markedly improved with an impressive field goal percentage of nearly 45 percent and an exceptional free throw percentage of over 81 percent. Moreover, UNM showcased depth in playmaking abilities with twenty assists while maintaining defensive pressure resulting in nine steals.

While these performances highlight some inconsistency within UNM's ranks, it is essential not to overlook their resilience and ability to bounce back stronger after each setback. Against Utah Valley Wolverines earlier this year on March 16th in Albuquerque again at The Pit during Rutgers Bracket - First Round - Game 3, despite falling short by a scoreline of 69-83, UNM demonstrated tenacity by keeping turnovers low and fighting hard for points off turnovers (13).

The upcoming clash against UTA presents another opportunity for redemption for UNM as they aim to harness their fast-paced offense while tightening up defensively – particularly inside the paint where they have shown vulnerability.

UNM will need key players to step up if they are going to overcome UTA’s challenge; focusing on improving two-point conversion rates which stood around only 38 percent against Saint Mary’s could be crucial. Additionally, capitalizing on second-chance points like they did impressively against Texas Southern will also be vital for securing victory.

Lobos fans should mark their calendars for November 17th when these two teams face off at The Pit in Albuquerque at precisely midnight Mountain Time (2:00 AM Eastern Time). It is sure not just another game but rather a chance for UNM basketball program under coach Paul Weir’s leadership prove its mettle once more before its ardent supporters who can catch all action live via MW Network online broadcast platforms.
