New Mexico Lobos Edge Out San Francisco Dons at Michelob ULTRA Arena

In a closely contested battle at Michelob ULTRA Arena, the New Mexico Lobos emerged victorious over the San Francisco Dons with a final score of 67-64. The Lobos now hold an improved record of 1-0, while the Dons fall to 0-1.

The New Mexico Lobos showcased resilience and skill on the court against their opponents. The team's field goal percentage was a solid 44 percent, with an impressive free throw completion rate of 78 percent. Their efforts in two-point attempts were fruitful as well, converting nearly half of their shots at a rate of 48 percent. From beyond the arc, they managed to sink three out of eleven attempts, culminating in a three-point shooting percentage of 27 percent.


Defensively, the Lobos were able to secure seven steals and put up two blocks against their adversaries. They also demonstrated teamwork with ten assists throughout the game. On the rebounding front, both teams grabbed an equal share with thirty-three rebounds each; however, it was New Mexico's ability to capitalize on turnovers that made a significant difference.


The San Francisco Dons put up a strong fight as well. They finished with thirteen assists and matched the Lobos' steal count at seven but couldn't manage any blocks during playtime. Their field goal shooting was less effective than their counterparts', standing at just over 38 percent overall and only making nine out of twenty-nine from three-point range for a percentage rounding off to 31 percent.


As for individual performances from New Mexico players that stood out: one player received a technical foul amidst intense gameplay; however this did not deter them from pushing forward towards victory.
