Lobos Look to Soar Over Falcons in The Pit Showdown

As the New Mexico Lobos prepare to face off against the Air Force Falcons, fans are eager for what promises to be a thrilling encounter at The Pit. The Lobos, coming off a mixed bag of recent performances, are looking to capitalize on their home-court advantage.

The last three games have seen the Lobos' performance fluctuate. Despite a narrow loss against the Runnin' Rebels with a score of 77-80, where they shot 35 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc, they showed resilience by grabbing more rebounds and blocking more shots than their opponents. Their fast break points stood out at 23, indicating an aggressive transition game.

In contrast, when visiting Wyoming Cowboys territory, the Lobos emerged victorious with an impressive scoreline of 91-73. Their field goal percentage improved to 45 percent and free throw accuracy was consistent at around 78 percent. Notably, their assists-to-turnover ratio improved significantly to 1.45.

However, consistency remains an issue as evidenced by their performance against Boise State Broncos where they won but with a tighter margin (78-86). They shot only 41 percent from the field but excelled at free throws with an impressive rate of approximately ninety percent.

The upcoming game is crucial for maintaining momentum in conference play. With recent trends showing volatility in shooting accuracy and defensive plays like blocks and steals varying across games, it's clear that focusing on consistency will be key for victory.

Fans can expect The Pit's energetic atmosphere to play its part as it has historically provided an edge for UNM teams. As both teams share similar time zones there should be no disadvantage due to travel or acclimatization for either side.

Mark your calendars for February 24th at nine PM Mountain Time as CBS Sports Network channel two hundred twenty-one broadcasts this exciting matchup live from Albuquerque's iconic venue - The Pit.
