The game was held at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, where fans witnessed an intense battle on the court. The New Mexico Lobos started strong, putting up 35 points in the first half and maintaining their momentum to add another 41 points by game's end. Their offensive efforts were highlighted by a remarkable performance from inside the paint, contributing to 40 of their total points.

Defensively, the Lobos were just as formidable. They amassed a total of seven blocks and ten steals throughout the game. This defensive prowess was complemented by their ability to capitalize on fast breaks, scoring an impressive 22 fast break points.

On offense, New Mexico's efficiency from two-point range was notable with a solid shooting percentage of 52 percent on two-point attempts. However, they struggled beyond the arc with only five three-pointers made out of twenty attempts for a modest three-point shooting percentage of just 25 percent.

The team also excelled in rebounding with an outstanding total rebound count of 45; this included both defensive rebounds (30) and offensive rebounds (9). Their efforts led to securing valuable second-chance opportunities that resulted in an additional 16 points for UNM.

Boise State Broncos put up a valiant fight despite falling short on scoreboard. They managed to block six shots and steal five times from UNM but could not match up against their opponent's energy levels throughout both halves. The Broncos had difficulty finding their rhythm offensively as they shot only at a rate of just under one-third from both field goal range (29 percent) and two-point distance (29 percent). Nevertheless, they did outperform UNM slightly at free throw line with higher accuracy rate hitting at approximately three-quarters (76 percent).
