The New Mexico team struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game, ending both halves with an identical 28 points. Their field goal percentage was low at 30 percent, making only 19 out of 64 attempts. From beyond the arc, they managed to sink just three out of 23 attempts, resulting in a meager three-point percentage of 13 percent. Despite these shooting woes, they were able to maintain some presence inside by scoring 28 points in the paint.

Defensively, the Lobos managed to block two shots and steal four times from their opponents but committed a high number of personal fouls totaling sixteen. They also had one player foul out during the course of play. Rebounding was one area where they excelled; pulling down an impressive total of forty-two rebounds – twenty-four defensive and fifteen offensive – which contributed to twelve second-chance points.

On offense, free throws were another area where UNM could have improved; they shot sixty-five percent from the line making fifteen free throws out of twenty-three attempts. Turnovers were also problematic for them as they gave up possession thirteen times which led to six points off turnovers for Clemson.

The Clemson Tigers showed more efficiency on both ends of the court with higher percentages across key statistics: fifty percent from two-point range (21 made out of forty-two), thirty-three percent for three-pointers (seven made out of twenty-one), and seventy-four percent from free throw line (fourteen made out nineteen). Their assist-to-turnover ratio was significantly better than that of UNM's at 1.78 compared to just .46 for New Mexico.

Clemson capitalized on turnovers scoring nineteen points off them and dominated second-chance opportunities by scoring fifteen second-chance points compared to twelve by UNM despite having fewer total rebounds than New Mexico at forty-one.
