Can the Lobos' Fast Breaks and Precision Shooting Overwhelm the Broncos Again?

The New Mexico Lobos secured a commanding victory over the Boise State Broncos with an 84-65 win, improving their season record. The game, held at The Pit in Albuquerque, showcased the Lobos' offensive efficiency and defensive prowess. With this win, the Lobos demonstrated their capability to dominate on both ends of the court.

Lobos' Offensive Onslaught

The New Mexico team's performance was highlighted by their remarkable shooting accuracy. They shot 54 percent from the field and were flawless from the free-throw line, making all 15 attempts. Their three-point shooting was also impressive, hitting 47 percent of shots beyond the arc. This offensive firepower was complemented by a fast-paced game that saw them scoring 29 points off fast breaks.

Key players for New Mexico included Donovan Dent and Nelly Junior Joseph, who both scored 16 points each. Joseph also contributed significantly on defense with nine rebounds and a block. Tru Washington added another layer to the attack with 13 points and five assists, showcasing his dual-threat capability as a scorer and playmaker.

Broncos' Efforts Overshadowed

Despite their loss, Boise State had moments of brilliance during the game. They managed to score 38 points in paint but struggled with their three-point shooting accuracy at just 21 percent. Their bench contributed significantly with 35 points but it wasn't enough to counteract New Mexico's high-scoring offense.

The Broncos were led by efforts from players who fought hard to narrow down what was at one point a lead as large as twenty-nine for New Mexico. However, turnovers proved costly for Boise State; they gave up twenty points off turnovers compared to seven of their own from similar opportunities.

Looking ahead, fans can anticipate another exciting matchup as The University of New Mexico Lobos are set to face Fresno State Bulldogs at The Pit in Albuquerque on January 20th at 5:00 PM EDT. This game will be broadcasted on CBS Sports Network for fans unable to attend in person.
