New Mexico State Aggies Set to Host Liberty Flames at Pan American Center
As the New Mexico State Aggies prepare to face off against the Liberty Flames at the Pan American Center, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The upcoming game, scheduled for February 2nd, is expected to be a showcase of resilience and strategy.
The Aggies have had a rollercoaster season thus far. Their last three games have been a testament to their tenacity and ability to compete under pressure. On December 23rd against Tulsa's Golden Hurricane, they fell short by just six points in a 59-65 loss. Despite this setback, there were positive takeaways; notably their impressive free throw accuracy at 90 percent and their dominance in rebounds with a total of 41.
In an even closer game on December 20th against Stephen F. Austin's Lumberjacks, the Aggies scored an impressive 72 points but were edged out by just three points in a nail-biting finish. Their three-point shooting was markedly improved from the previous game at an impressive rate of 40 percent.
However, it was their performance on December 16th that truly highlighted what NMSU is capable of when they're firing on all cylinders. In front of their home crowd at the Pan American Center, they matched up against New Mexico Lobos and secured a hard-fought victory with a scoreline reflecting their offensive prowess: NMSU -72 vs UNM -73.
The upcoming clash with Liberty Flames promises to be another challenging encounter for NMSU. The Flames will not make it easy; however, if recent performances are anything to go by, one can expect NMSU's defense to step up once again as they did when blocking four shots and making ten steals against UNM.
Aggie fans should look forward to seeing whether NMSU can maintain or even improve upon their field goal percentage which stood at an efficient rate of nearly half made (49 percent) during that victorious night in Las Cruces earlier this season.
With home-court advantage and momentum from past performances fueling them forward, it would not be surprising if New Mexico State uses its fast-paced offense – which racked up eighteen fast break points last time out – coupled with solid defense work rate as key factors in overcoming Liberty Flames' challenge.
Mark your calendars for February 2nd; tip-off is set for February second at nine PM Mountain Time (MT). Fans can catch all the action live from Las Cruces via ESPN+ internet broadcast network.
