The game unfolded at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, where 8,925 spectators witnessed a battle that had no lead changes or ties throughout its duration. The North Carolina State Wolfpack set an aggressive pace early on, ending the first half with a lead of 36-22. They maintained their momentum into the second half, adding another 37 points to secure their win.

The offensive efforts of the North Carolina State were led by sharp shooting from both inside and beyond the arc. They made 19 out of 37 two-point attempts (51 percent) and added five three-pointers from 21 attempts (24 percent). Their field goal percentage for the game stood at approximately 41 percent.

The Wolfpack's defense was equally formidable; they tallied seven steals and three blocks while limiting their personal fouls to just under twenty. On rebounds, they dominated with a total of thirty-eight compared to Virginia Tech's twenty-nine. Of these rebounds for North Carolina State, eleven were on offense which contributed significantly to their thirteen second-chance points.

Virginia Tech put up a resilient fight in front of their home crowd. In particular, they excelled in points within paint totaling thirty-six and boasted a higher two-point shooting percentage than their opponents at approximately fifty-four percent. However, despite outscoring North Carolina State in the second half with forty-seven points to thirty-seven respectively and having more assists overall (twelve), it wasn't enough to overcome early setbacks.

Both teams ended up turning over possession eleven times each; however, it was how each team capitalized that made all difference – North Carolina State scored twenty points off turnovers compared to fifteen by Virginia Tech.

Looking ahead for fans of The North Carolina State Wolfpack: The team will next face off against Miami (FL) Hurricanes at PNC Arena located in Raleigh on January fourteenth at noon Eastern Time. This upcoming match can be viewed live on ACC Network Extra via internet broadcast networks.
