The game was characterized by numerous lead changes and both teams were tied seven times throughout the contest, indicating how competitive the matchup was. The North Carolina State Wolfpack fought valiantly in their attempt to secure victory. They managed to outpace the Hokies in fast break points with 20 compared to 18 by their opponents and also led in points off turnovers by scoring 25 against Virginia Tech's 22.

Defensively, the Wolfpack demonstrated tenacity with a total of 14 steals and four blocks during the game. Their efforts on defense translated into opportunities on offense but were not enough to overcome the deficit they faced. On offense, they had an assist-turnover ratio slightly below that of Virginia Tech at approximately 0.88.

The home team showed strength under pressure as they attempted more field goals than Virginia Tech; however, they struggled with accuracy from beyond the arc making only six out of eighteen three-point attempts which translates into a three-point percentage around thirty-three percent.

Despite being fouled out twice during playtime and accumulating more personal fouls than Virginia Tech (22 versus 16), North Carolina State maintained composure at free throw line achieving an eighty-three percent success rate from charity stripe which is commendable under such intense circumstances.

North Carolina State also dominated offensive rebounds grabbing thirteen compared to just two by Virginia Tech which allowed them additional second-chance points totaling eighteen for game – showing hustle and effort on glass despite overall rebounding numbers being relatively close between two teams (32 for NCST versus twenty-eight for VT).

As North Carolina State looks forward to its next challenge away from home turf against University of Virginia Cavaliers at John Paul Jones Arena on January twenty-fourth at seven PM Eastern Time; fans can catch action live nationally on ACC Network channel six hundred twelve ensuring no moment is missed as team seeks redemption after this hard-fought battle.
