In what was a nail-biter at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the North Carolina State Wolfpack showcased their offensive skills but couldn't quite edge out over Wake Forest. The home team managed to secure victory despite being pushed to their limits throughout the contest. The Wolfpack started strong in the first half with an impressive 45 points but were outscored in the second half as they added only 34 more to their tally.
The North Carolina State team demonstrated remarkable efficiency from inside the arc, converting 56 percent of their two-point attempts. Their overall field goal percentage stood at a solid 49 percent from all ranges on court. From beyond the arc, they made seven out of twenty attempts which translates into a three-point shooting percentage of 35 percent. At free throw line, they maintained composure and secured a commendable success rate of 73 percent.
Defensively, however, there were challenges as they accumulated twenty-one personal fouls over the course of play and managed only two blocks compared to Wake Forest's four. On offense though, they showed versatility and teamwork with fourteen assists contributing significantly to their scoring efforts.
Rebounding was another area where both teams fought hard; however, it was nearly even with North Carolina State pulling down thirty-five rebounds—twenty-five defensive and six offensive—against Wake Forest's thirty-two total rebounds.
A key aspect that kept North Carolina State competitive was capitalizing on turnovers; they scored seven points off turnovers thanks to an aggressive defense that notched up seven steals during game time.
