The Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill was alive with energy as the home team put on an exhibition that left fans in awe. The Tar Heels' offense was firing on all cylinders, boasting an impressive field goal percentage of 56 and converting 42 percent from beyond the arc. Their defense was equally formidable; they amassed seven blocks and nine steals over the course of the game.

The home team's superiority was evident in every facet of play. They outrebounded their opponents by a significant margin, pulling down 46 rebounds compared to just 25 for the Buccaneers. This included securing 13 offensive boards which contributed to their total second-chance points tallying up to 11.

North Carolina's players showed exceptional teamwork and fluidity on court with an assist-to-turnover ratio standing at four – indicative of their cohesive playmaking and ball security which saw them commit only five turnovers throughout the game. In contrast, Charleston Southern struggled with ball handling, turning it over twelve times which led directly to seventeen points for UNC.

The Buccaneers did show resilience from behind the three-point line where they made ten shots at a respectable rate of forty percent but were ultimately let down by their two-point field goal percentage which stood at twenty-nine percent – starkly lower than UNC's sixty-four percent.

A standout statistic for North Carolina was their points in paint totaling fifty-two – showcasing their ability to penetrate Charleston Southern’s defense effectively. Additionally, they capitalized on fast-break opportunities scoring fifteen fast break points demonstrating both speed and efficiency during transitions.

As we look ahead, fans are eagerly anticipating when North Carolina will take on Pittsburgh Panthers at Petersen Events Center located in Pittsburgh PA on January second at seven PM Eastern Time. This matchup promises another exciting chapter for UNC basketball this season and can be watched live on ESPN channel two hundred six.
