From tip-off to final buzzer, the North Carolina Tar Heels commanded the game with a robust offensive and defensive performance. The home team shot an efficient 44 percent from the field compared to James Madison's 35 percent. The Tar Heels were particularly effective from inside the paint, where they scored 34 points and outperformed their opponents who managed only 32 points in this area.

The first half set the tone for what was to come as UNC racked up an impressive 45 points against JMU's 26. This momentum carried into the second half with UNC adding another solid performance of 35 points while holding JMU to just under double that amount at 38 points.

Rebounding was a key factor in UNC's success; they pulled down a total of 50 rebounds – including a significant margin on defensive boards with a count of 37 compared to JMU’s total rebound count of just over two-thirds that number at only 34. This advantage helped UNC maintain control throughout both halves.

UNC also demonstrated superior ball distribution and teamwork with a total of fourteen assists, reflecting their cohesive play style against JMU’s eight assists. Both teams had equal steals at four each but it was clear that UNC capitalized more effectively on these opportunities.

Free throw accuracy was another area where UNC excelled; they hit an impressive three-quarters of their shots from the line which contributed significantly to their final score tally. In contrast, JMU struggled considerably more from free throw range hitting barely over half of theirs.

Three-point shooting wasn't prolific for either team but still played its part in scoring dynamics; UNC made eight three-pointers out of twenty-five attempts giving them an edge over JMU who managed seven out of twenty-seven attempts.

Turnovers were relatively low for such an intense matchup; however, it is worth noting that both teams scored eleven points off turnovers despite having different turnover counts – twelve for UNC and nine for JMU respectively.

Looking ahead after this commanding home win, fans can anticipate seeing North Carolina Tar Heels take on Portland Pilots at Moda Center in Portland on November twenty-fourth at six o'clock Eastern Time. This game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN channel two hundred six ensuring fans won’t miss any action as these teams face off next week.
