In a display of dominance on their home court, the North Carolina Tar Heels outperformed the Wake Forest Demon Deacons with a final score of 85-64. The Tar Heels, ranked third nationally, showcased their strength throughout the game, improving their record to an impressive standing. The Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill was filled with excitement as 21,175 fans witnessed the Tar Heels' commanding performance against their opponents. The game saw numerous lead changes and was tied eight times, indicating a competitive spirit between the two teams. However, it was North Carolina's second-half surge that truly set them apart.

The home team excelled in various aspects of play; they were particularly effective inside the paint where they scored 48 points. Their shooting accuracy was notable as well – hitting 52 percent from field goals and converting 33 percent from beyond the arc. Free throws also contributed to their tally with a solid 73 percent completion rate.

Defensively, North Carolina made its presence felt by accumulating seven blocks and securing an impressive total of 43 rebounds – significantly higher than Wake Forest's count of 30 rebounds. This defensive prowess limited Wake Forest to just one fast break point and allowed only three points off turnovers for them.

Wake Forest struggled from long range throughout the game, managing only a meager three-point shooting percentage of 15 percent which hindered their ability to close down on North Carolina's lead effectively. Despite this challenge, they maintained commendable free throw accuracy at 76 percent but fell short in other scoring opportunities within the paint and off turnovers compared to UNC.

Looking ahead for fans of UNC basketball: The next challenge awaits as they are scheduled to face off against Florida State Seminoles at Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee on January 27th at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. This encounter will be broadcast nationally on ESPN channel number two hundred six for those eager to follow every moment live as it unfolds on court.
