Clash at UNT Coliseum: North Texas Mean Green Hosts LSU-Shreveport Pilots in Men's Basketball Showdown

As the North Texas Mean Green prepare to host the LSU-Shreveport Pilots at the UNT Coliseum, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be an electrifying game of basketball. The upcoming matchup, scheduled for December 30th, is poised to be a pivotal moment for the Mean Green as they look to capitalize on their home-court advantage.

The recent performances of North Texas have been a mixed bag, but there are positive takeaways that suggest they could dominate against LSUS. On December 17th against Mississippi State Bulldogs, despite falling short with 54 points to MSST's 72, UNT showed resilience and potential. Their free throw accuracy was an impressive 87 percent and they managed a two-point field goal percentage of 57 percent in that game. However, turnovers were a glaring issue as they gave up possession 16 times.

In another close encounter on December 10th against Fordham Rams at Barclays Center, UNT narrowly lost by one point with a final score of 59-60. They demonstrated defensive prowess with an astounding number of blocks (11) and matched Fordham in rebounds (40 each). The three-point shooting was decent at around 39 percent but will need improvement.

The most concerning aspect for UNT has been their turnover rate; it has consistently hurt them in past games including their match on December 6th against Boise State Broncos where turnovers (19) nearly matched their personal fouls (19). Despite this setback and losing by five points (64-69), the Mean Green showed tenacity by forcing turnovers themselves and maintaining a solid field goal percentage just over 40 percent.

Looking ahead to LSUS, it's clear that if UNT can tighten up ball handling and maintain defensive intensity while capitalizing on scoring opportunities inside the paint where they've shown strength previously – particularly from free throws – victory is well within reach.

Fans should expect an aggressive approach from North Texas as they aim to leverage every statistic in their favor. With home support behind them at the iconic UNT Coliseum known for its vibrant atmosphere, this could very well be the turning point where we see all elements of their game come together seamlessly.

Mark your calendars for December 30th at precisely seven o'clock in the evening when these two teams face off. For those unable to attend in person at Denton’s own UNT Coliseum located within zip code area of "76201", you can still catch all live action via ESPN+ online broadcast network. This is one event you won't want to miss!
