Can the Mean Green Bounce Back After a Narrow Overtime Loss to the Blazers?

The North Texas Mean Green faced a challenging contest against the Blazers, culminating in an 82-79 defeat after an intense overtime period. The Mean Green now hold a record of 0-1, while the Blazers improve to 1-0.

UAB Blazers VS North Texas Mean Green

In front of a home crowd at UNT Coliseum, the North Texas Mean Green displayed resilience throughout the game. Despite trailing with only 35 points to the Blazers' 26 at halftime, they managed to tie up by adding another 37 points in the second half. However, it was during overtime that they fell short by scoring just seven points compared to their opponents' ten.

The Mean Green's performance was marked by solid defensive efforts with five blocks and eight steals. Offensively, they made notable contributions from both inside and outside the arc. They shot at a respectable rate of fifty percent for two-point attempts and thirty-two percent for three-pointers. Their free throw accuracy stood at seventy-two percent with eighteen successful shots from twenty-five attempts.

One area where North Texas outshone their opponents was in rebounding; they secured thirty-eight rebounds compared to thirty-four by the Blazers. This included thirteen offensive rebounds which contributed significantly to their fourteen second-chance points.

Despite these efforts, personal fouls proved costly for North Texas as they accumulated twenty over the course of play – although none resulted in foulouts or ejections – which may have impacted their rhythm on court.

On offense, turnovers were nearly even between both teams with eleven for North Texas and ten for UAB; however, this slight edge did not translate into victory for The Mean Green who had an assists turnover ratio slightly lower than that of The Blazers (0.9 versus 1.1).

Looking ahead after this hard-fought match-up against The Blazers, fans can anticipate seeing how The North Texas Mean Green will regroup as they prepare to host South Florida Bulls at UNT Coliseum on February 3rd at 5:00 PM local time (Central Time). This upcoming game will be broadcasted on ESPN+, allowing fans not able to attend in person another opportunity to support their team from afar.
