Can North Texas Mean Green Outpace SMU Mustangs at Moody Coliseum?

As the North Texas Mean Green prepare to face off against the SMU Mustangs at Moody Coliseum, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The upcoming clash on February 11th is poised to be a pivotal moment for UNT, and based on recent performances, there's plenty of reason for optimism.

The Mean Green have shown remarkable resilience and skill in their past games. On December 23rd, UNT dominated the Texas-Arlington Mavericks with a commanding 78-52 victory. Their offensive prowess was on full display as they shot an impressive 53 percent from the field and an even more striking 44 percent from beyond the arc. With such shooting efficiency coupled with a solid defense that racked up nine steals and three blocks, it's clear that UNT has both the firepower and fortitude to control a game.

However, not every outing has been smooth sailing for UNT. A closer look at their December 17th encounter reveals some chinks in their armor. Against Mississippi State Bulldogs, UNT managed only 54 points while allowing 72 points against them. The team struggled particularly from long range that night, hitting just 21 percent of their three-point attempts.

Despite this setback, it's important to note how UNT bounced back in their next game against Fordham Rams on December 10th – albeit narrowly losing by one point (59-60). This contest showcased their defensive capabilities as they amassed an incredible eleven blocks while maintaining parity in rebounds with forty each side.

What stands out about UNT is not just individual game statistics but also their ability to learn from losses and adjust accordingly – a trait that will serve them well against SMU Mustangs.

The Mustangs should not be underestimated though; any opponent can pose challenges on any given day. However, if recent form is anything to go by - where consistency in scoring over fifty points per game meets robust defense - then fans can expect North Texas Mean Green to put forth a strong challenge at Moody Coliseum.

With tip-off scheduled for February 11th at Moody Coliseum in Dallas at precisely seven o'clock PM Central Time (CT), supporters of both teams should mark their calendars for what promises to be an enthralling encounter broadcasted live on ESPN Networks. Will North Texas continue its upward trajectory or will SMU stampede over them? Only time will tell as we eagerly await this compelling matchup.
