North Texas Mean Green Set to Blaze Past UAB in Birmingham Showdown

As the North Texas Mean Green prepare to face off against the UAB Blazers at Bartow Arena, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The Mean Green's recent performance has been nothing short of impressive, and there's every reason to believe that this momentum will carry them through their upcoming game on February 18.

Looking back at the December 23 game, UNT displayed a dominant performance against the Mavericks with a resounding 78-52 victory. Their offensive prowess was on full display as they shot an exceptional 53 percent from the field and an even more impressive 44 percent from beyond the arc. With such high shooting percentages, it's clear that UNT has honed their ability to find and make good shots.

The defensive side of the ball was just as formidable for UNT. They managed to snag nine steals and block three shots, which contributed significantly to their points off turnovers tallying up to 23. This kind of defensive pressure is likely going to be a key factor in their strategy against UAB.

However, not all games have been smooth sailing for UNT. The December 17 encounter with Mississippi State Bulldogs saw them struggle offensively, scoring only 54 points and turning over the ball sixteen times. Despite these challenges, it's important not just look at one game but consider overall trends.

One trend that cannot be ignored is how well-rounded this team is when it comes down to crunch time. In a tight match-up against Fordham Rams on December 10 where lead changes were frequent and both teams were neck-and-neck throughout, North Texas showed resilience under pressure despite falling short by one point in a final score of 59-60.

The Blazers should not be underestimated though; they've had moments of brilliance throughout their season as well but will need more than just home-court advantage when facing a team like North Texas who seems ready for any challenge thrown at them.

With all eyes set on February's clash between these two contenders, fans can expect an intense battle where every possession counts. The Mean Green have shown they can light up the scoreboard while also clamping down defensively when needed – traits that could very well dictate this upcoming contest’s outcome.

Fans eager to support North Texas can catch all the action live from Bartow Arena in Birmingham or tune into ESPN+ at exactly eight o'clock PM Central Time on February 18th for what promises to be another thrilling chapter in college basketball this season.
