The game, held at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, saw the North Texas Mean Green display a dominant performance on both ends of the court. The team's offensive efforts were particularly noteworthy, as they managed to secure a shooting accuracy of 49 percent from the field and an impressive 46 percent from beyond the arc. Their sharpshooting was complemented by converting 10 out of their 22 three-point attempts into crucial points for the team.

Defensively, the Mean Green also stood out by executing eight steals and blocking four shots, showcasing their ability to disrupt the Owls' offensive flow. This defensive prowess translated into ten points off turnovers, further extending their lead and maintaining control throughout the game.

On top of that, North Texas demonstrated efficient ball movement and teamwork with twelve assists contributing to their overall score. They also capitalized on second-chance opportunities by scoring nine second-chance points which kept momentum firmly in their favor.

Rebounding was another area where North Texas excelled; they gathered a total of thirty-three rebounds—twenty-six defensively and six offensively—ensuring that they limited Rice's opportunities for additional scoring chances.

Despite committing sixteen personal fouls leading to one player being fouled out, it did not significantly hinder their performance or impact on the game's outcome. The team maintained composure and continued to execute effectively on both sides of the ball.

The Rice Owls fought valiantly but struggled against North Texas' robust defense and efficient offense. They ended up shooting only thirty-seven percent from field goals overall and twenty-nine percent from three-point range—a stark contrast to North Texas' superior percentages in these areas. Although they managed better free throw accuracy at seventy-three percent compared to North Texas' fifty-six percent success rate at free throws line, it wasn't enough to close down or overcome Mean Green’s lead.
