In front of a home crowd of 15,267 at Value City Arena, the Ohio State Buckeyes showcased their dominance on both ends of the court against the visiting Penn State Nittany Lions. The Buckeyes were particularly effective inside, scoring 40 points in the paint compared to Penn State's 24. This inside presence was bolstered by Ohio State's superior rebounding, as they outrebounded their opponents with a total of 43 rebounds to Penn State's 36.

Ohio State's shooting efficiency was also noteworthy; they shot an impressive 58 percent from two-point range and maintained an overall field goal percentage of 46 percent. Their free throw performance was equally commendable, with an accuracy rate of 88 percent that contributed significantly to their point tally.

Defensively, the Buckeyes were formidable as well. They amassed five blocks and six steals over the course of play. This defensive strength limited Penn State’s scoring opportunities and played a key role in maintaining Ohio State’s lead throughout the game.

On offense, teamwork played a pivotal part for Ohio State as evidenced by their distribution of assists; they recorded fifteen assists which reflects their ability to share and move the ball effectively against Penn States' defense which managed ten assists.

The Nittany Lions did show resilience despite being outplayed overall. Their free throw accuracy stood high at eighty percent but with only five attempts throughout the game compared to twenty-five by Ohio state which limited this advantage.
